About

Neudorf is a small rural village surrounded by forests, farmland, and active agricultural production. It’s home to a surprising number of residents engaged in crafts, education, and independent initiatives – ranging from timber work and old trades to local food production and community-based repair. The Neudorf Institute for Innovation is an non-profit organization, created by researchers Ruth Neubauer, Marianne Lechner and Noémi Zajzon in collaboration with neighbours and local makers. It serves as a communication hub where everyday knowledge and projects can be shared and organised. The institute is connected to three universities – New Design University in St. Pölten, Kunstuniversität Linz, and Loughborough University London – and to a growing international network of scholars working in design, social and technological innovation, and sustainability.
